Why do weekends always go by so quickly and I feel so exhausted come Monday morning?
Friday night was a little hectic with Pat's kids coming over. This wasn't our weekend to have them but they were over after school on Friday since their Mom had to work. Both of them were going to a friends house...one couldn't get there until after 7, the other had to be at a party at 8:15. We had plans to go out to dinner and thought about going to see Hunger Games. We were lucky to get a 30 min workout in at the gym but the rest of our plans didn't happen. We ended up making chicken fajitas and watching Game of Thrones on the couch.
Saturday morning was the No Frills, All Thrills 5 Mile trail race that the Brighton running club puts on. Pat had to be there at 7:30 to volunteer. I showed up at 9am to run. It's nice running a race that doesn't start until 10am. Since I knew that I had a race the next day, I tried not to push it too hard. I ended up running it in 43:53. After the race I quickly headed out to my parents house so I could stop there for a shower before getting my hair done. They live a mile from where I get my hair cut and I thought it would be quicker to go there than to try to go home. We went out on a date to Stonefire Grill in downtown Brighton that evening, then got ready for our half marathon that was on Sunday.
We ran the CF Rock Half Marathon in Grosse Ile. We had to be up at 4:15 am to get out the door at 5:15. The race started at 7:15 and we wanted to make sure to get there an hour early so we didn't have to feel rushed. Even though I had taken an ice bath the night before, my legs were pretty tired going into Sunday's race. I knew it wasn't going to be a PR race so I took it pretty easy. I ran with my friend Andrea until the 4 mile mark when I had to stop to pee, I hate when that happens! I finished in 2:03:16.

Last night a tornado ripped through Southeaster Michigan. One of the cites that was hit hard by it was Dexter. Several of my coworkers live there and have been affected by the destructive damage.

Thankfully no lives were lost. Please say a prayer for those families that lost their homes.

Pat had gifted me a Zingerman's baking class for my birthday back in January. I picked out a few classes that were of interest to me & that fit in our schedule. The class we ended up taking was Baking with Beer. We made an Oat & Blonde ale bread that was really moist, a irish soda bread with a red rye beer, out of this world apricot beer scones, and cheddar ale crackers. The class was really well done, it was both informative and lots of fun. The instructor was great too! Here are some pics from the night:
