Since this is going to be a second wedding for both of us we wanted to keep things simple. And we wanted to do it this summer. We initially talked about a destination wedding some place out of state. As we started looking into places & the cost of travelling we realized that we didn't want to spend a lot of money on a vacation in the summer when Michigan is so great that time of year. We finally decided on heading to the Sleeping Bear Dunes area of Michigan with hopes of getting married barefoot on the beach or on the dunes with Lake Michigan in the back ground.
I found the dress a while ago and decided to go shoe shopping this past weekend. Jody & I were supposed to be at a baby shower for Kelli, but as life happens, her little man decided to make an early appearance. I still wanted to see Jody so we decided to meet at the mall and I asked her to help me find the right shoe. I wanted something with color. Jody was a huge help and I settled on these beauties:
So now we have the location, we've booked the officiant, we have a photographer, I have my dress, shoes are picked out (with matching flip-flops for the beach), a necklace to match the shoes, & a bed and breakfast is reserved. I still need to book my hair appointment, decide on earrings, we need to get his attire, and we need to pick flowers. I'm thinking of hot pink & coral flowers to add more color.
Last night was Jack's second game of the season. They played against one of the toughest teams in their league, Saline. I met Pat, Grace, & Brady at the field after work. Brady went nuts. He wanted to be in the outfield. I swear he was smiling the whole time.
First up for the weekend was drinks with Pat's Dad & Step-Mom. His Dad's birthday is on Tuesday and since weekdays are usually busy for us we wanted to make sure that we got to spend some time with him. Plus we hadn't seen them since the holidays. We had a really nice time and Bar Louie was nice enough to bring him a very large piece of birthday cake to celebrate with.

Saturday was spent cleaning and prepping for Easter. Some major Spring cleaning was done. It was so nice to have the windows open to air out the house and to have the place looking great. In the evening we headed to downtown Plymouth for a birthday party for my BFF's brother. We had fun seeing some old friends but unfortunately didn't get to stay too long since we had a busy Sunday ahead of us.
On Sunday we were up early and out the door to run. Pat met his Boston running group for their last long run of 12 miles. I met my friend Chuck out at Kensington for a loop. It was windy & hilly but we still managed a 9:30 average pace.
Then it was home to start cooking. Easter dinner was deviled eggs, cheese, spinach/kale dip & cracker. Followed by Roasted chicken, warm potato salad, & asparagus. Dessert was Pineapple fluff cake (Angel Food Cake with a pineapple cool whip filling). It all tasted great & turned out wondeful.
